I am a third-generation lawyer who, you might say, grew up in the back of a courtroom. My grandfather was a justice on the state Supreme Court.
My father served over 26 years as a judge and was a champion of civility and dedicated service to the legal profession.
My mother was an emergency room nurse and also earned a master’s degree in Bioethics, focusing on counseling families who need to make end-of- life decisions for their loved ones. These experiences help shape my values, which are now embodied in this firm: competency, integrity, personal service.
My family has deep roots in California and Hawai’i, the two states where I actively practice. I have been blessed to call both home. I also currently serve one weekend a month in the Hawai’i Air National Guard. It’s a privilege to be able to continue to give back to my community in service to its people and the bar.
Prior to attending law school, I graduated from the United States Military Academy and served as an infantry officer and Airborne Ranger in the United States Army in increasing positions of responsibility, both stateside and abroad, culminating as Aide to the Commanding General of the Army’s largest training center. I also taught Military Science and Leadership as an Assistant Professor, commanded a combined force, pathfinder unit in the Republic of Korea and led a 36-soldier, light infantry, rapid-deployment platoon. I am a three-time nominee for the Douglas McArthur Leadership Award, recipient of two Meritorious Service Medals and an inductee in the Order of Saint Maurice. The West Point values of Duty, Honor, County are mirrored in the firm’s values and embedded in the color scheme found in Cashman Law.
After graduating from law school, I had the privilege of clerking for three more judges, both at the state and federal courts and practiced as an associate and later partner with two AMLAW 100 firms. I am a recipient of Lawyers Weekly’s Leadership in Law Award, and have been recognized for two consecutive years as a rising star in Business Litigation, and am currently on the 2020 Super Lawyers list, an honor reserved for only 5% of attorneys. I have chaired numerous non-profit and civic organizations, and served the state bar as a two-term delegate; as chair, international law committee; as general counsel, consumer law section; and have a combined 15 years on ethics, professional responsibility and practice and procedures committees.
In addition to a law degree from a top 20 law school, I hold a Master of Business Administration focused in finance. When not practicing the profession I love, I am an avid hiker and enjoy spending time with family. Sometimes I am fortunate enough to do both.
I look forward to serving you and helping you achieve your life goals.
